Just as CPR prepares you to respond in a medical emergency, Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) gives you the tools to support someone experiencing a mental health challenges. This interactive, evidence-based course from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing teaches you how to recognize warning signs, respond with confidence, and connect individuals to the right professional help.
Through engaging scenarios, activities, and community-focused examples, you’ll gain practical skills that make a real difference. The course also covers trauma, substance use, and self-care to help you support both others and yourself. Kristen Knoche, Lead Afterschool Consultant, is certified to teach this course.
Take this opportunity to build your confidence, strengthen your community impact, and earn a nationally recognized Youth Mental Health First Aid certification, valid for three years.

Content experts from Dr. Aaron Fischer's team within the University of Utah Department of Educational Psychology have designed the Well-Being Institute (WBI) to provide research-based strategies to individuals serving all ages of youth in an out-of-school time setting. WBI will cover topics such as functions of behavior, strategies of engagement, and restorative practices.
WBI will cover timely topics such as:

- Handling Challenging Behaviors & Emotional Responses
- Real-World Applications & Discussion

Get ready for a one-day, live workshop packed with connection, inspiration, and ideas, designed just for afterschool programs! Friday, March 6, 10:00 am- 3:30 pm.
This special event is open to programs 80+ miles from Salt Lake City. Northern boundary: Hyrum, UT, and areas to the North, Northeast, or Northwest. Southern boundary: Nephi, UT, and areas to the South, Southeast, or Southwest
Can’t make it live? No worries! The workshop will be recorded and available for 45 days after the event. Access to the recording will also be available to attendees with Early Bird Registration to Northern Recharge.
