Content experts from Dr. Aaron Fischer's team within the University of Utah Department of Educational Psychology have designed the Well-Being Institute (WBI) to provide research-based strategies to individuals serving all ages of youth in an out-of-school time setting. WBI will cover topics such as functions of behavior, strategies of engagement, and restorative practices.

WBI will cover timely topics such as:

• Strategies for Engagement & Inclusion
• Handling Challenging Behaviors & Emotional Responses
• Real-World Applications & Discussion

This year, we’re bringing the fun—think more hands-on learning, more ways to connect, and way less sitting still. Come ready to jump in and make some magic happen!

Date:  Saturday, January 10, 2026

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM 

Location: Miller Family Club, 244 E Myrtle Ave, Murray, UT

Cost: $115 | To help offset this cost, apply for a PD Award.

What’s Included in Registration:

• 4 hours of online modular training
• 6 hours of in-person training with Dr. Aaron Fischer and his team

Whether you bring your full team (recommended), a colleague, or attend solo, this event is a valuable opportunity for professional growth. Registration is limited and will close once capacity is reached or by January 6, 2026—whichever comes first.

Financial Assistance is Available!

Thanks to the generous support of the Utah Department of Workforce Services Office of Child Care, the Utah Afterschool Network is excited to offer Professional Development Assistance Awards to help out-of-school time professionals attend the Well-Being Institute. These awards are meant to ease the cost of registration so more of our amazing professionals can join us. The remaining balance of $70 can be covered by the individual or their organization.

We hope this support makes it a little easier for you to be part of this meaningful experience!
