Virtual Healthy School
CDC’s Virtual Healthy School (VHS) is an interactive tool that shows schools how to support the health and academic achievement of students through the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model. The VHS is designed for those who have an interest in meeting the needs of the whole child. Those needs include providing students with opportunities to improve their dietary and physical activity behaviors and manage their chronic health conditions.
Friends For Sight
Friends for Sight offers free eye screenings and glasses to programs with children in need. Screenings occur onsite at your program location. Additionally, the site has some informative articles on sight.
Planned Parenthood Association of Utah
Planned Parenthood offers free training and programs for individuals, community organizations, and educational organizations. Safe at School, an anti-bullying/anti-harassment program for professionals working with youth. Foundations: Core Skills Training for Sex Education is a training designed to help professionals understand how to teach sex education as well as maintaining appropriate boundaries, managing values conflicts, and answering tough questions. Planned Parenthood also offers a number of one-day workshops and series classes for various ages and backgrounds. There are also two year-round programs for teens.
Voices Action Center
Voices for Healthy Kids®, a joint initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and American Heart Association (AHA), works to help all young people eat healthier foods and be more active. Nearly one in three kids and teens is overweight or obese. By engaging, organizing and mobilizing people in communities across the United States, Voices for Healthy Kids will help make the healthy choice the easy choice in the places where children live, learn, and play.
America After 3pm: Afterschool and Keeping Kids Active and Healthy
America After 3PM spans a decade of data chronicling how children spend the hours between 3 and 6 p.m. the hours after school ends and before parents typically return home from work. They share this PowerPoint Presentation on what you can do to help kids in afterschool programs to stay active and healthy.
The Organ Wise Guys
The Organ Wise Guys is a subscription-based curriculum designed to help youth make healthy choices. There are free lesson plans available on the site, however the puppets and accessories are paid products.
HEPA 2.0 Standards
The NAA offers information on HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activities) Standards 2.0. The site provides a downloadable version of the standards as well as a Spanish translation of the standards. The HEPA Standards 2.0 assessment is also available to download.
Alliance For A Healthier Generation
Healthier Generation offers an evidence-based assessment tool to create a healthier out-of-school time environment for kids. Created in partnership with the National Afterschool Association’s Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards 2.0, the Healthy Out-of-School Time Assessment will help you track what you are already doing to support health and wellness at your site as well as highlight opportunities for growth and improvement. The site offers the assessment both virtually and in printable format. In addition to the assessment, the site provides an action plan to create change and several roadmaps to work towards those changes. All content is free.
CATCH
CATCH stands for a Coordinated Approach to Child Health. CATCH is an evidence-based curriculum designed to promote physical activity, healthy food choices, and healthy practices. The site offers resources on a variety of topics, such as vaping prevention, physical activity, and health and nutrition. Most resources are not free. CATCH does offer a limited selection of free resources and samples.
Healthy Teen Network
Healthy Teen Network provides new capacity-building training and resources to ensure our nation’s young people are empowered to lead healthy sexual and reproductive lives. The site offers a number of resources, including elearning, videos, assessment tools, intervention plans, and teacher's guides.
Change4Life
Change4Life and Disney have teamed up to bring you play-along games inspired by your favorite Disney and Pixar characters. These 10-minute bursts of energy will really get your youth moving! Utilize these activities to help youth get their 60 active minutes they need every day.
