Accounting Assistant

Organization: Utah Afterschool NetworkThe Utah Afterschool Network is seeking an experienced accounting
assistant to aid the organization in its mission to provide training and support for
afterschool programs throughout Utah.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Upload vendor invoices, credit card charges, and staff payments into GDrive for
the Accountant to enter. Runs checks in Quickbooks. Distributes checks. Maintains
vendor files
● Prepares Forms 1099 and files with IRS at year-end
● Uploads deposit information and bank activity
● Communicates payroll changes to the Accountant, and reviews payroll reports for
accuracy and completeness for 16 employees using PayLogics software
● Acts as liaison with benefits companies making adjustments and changes in payroll
deductions
● Assists with month-end close as needed
● Attends weekly meetings (in-person and on Zoom)
● Reviews detailed monthly billings and documentation to government agencies for
reimbursement
● Maintains grant and government contract files
● Assists with preparation for the annual financial statement audit as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Associate degree in accounting or business preferred
● Minimum three years of bookkeeping experience, non-profit preferred but will train
● Highly proficient in QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, and Google Drive
● Understanding of basic accounting principles
● Organized and highly detail-oriented
● Comfortable working independently and with staff in different time zones.
● Able to create and maintain positive working relationships
● Ethical, honest, and trustworthy
● Able to pass a background check and be approved to work in the U.S.
