JOB SUMMARY:
Part Time position. Works with targeted students and families with chronic school day absences and/or behavior issues as identified through school or afterschool staff. Contact parents and regularly follow up to better understand any family dynamics that may cause barriers to their child's success in school. Help connect families to basic needs, educational related services, and parenting classes. Support the school's overall attendance and family engagement efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Tier 1 = Equivalent of six months of part-time work experience (720 hours) in a field closely related to Afterschool and/or Youth Programming or 12 credit hours from an accredited school or university in related field. ($16.00/hr.)

Tier 2 = After 30 days and/or upon completion of required trainings. ($17.00/hr.)

Spanish speaking preferred.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*Works to identify students and families in need of support based on disruptive behavior and attendance during the school day and/or Afterschool.
*Creates referral process that ensures proper privacy procedures are in place through approved FERPA consent waivers.
*Contacts families to discuss concerns, understand barriers and identifies potential needs, follows up regularly and connects proper resources.
Identifies, finds, and connects with agencies offering needed resources
*Builds school-wide behavior and attendance incentives.
Participates with PTA and School Community Council.
*Engages with planning of school wide family engagement efforts and events that will result in involvement of family members in supporting the academic achievement and social emotional wellbeing of their students.
*Regularly tracks and report on progress.
Communicates with key stakeholders within the school and Afterschool Program.
*Maintains confidentiality of students and families.

Pleasant Green Elementary - 8201 W 2100 S, Magna, UT

Temporary Employees:
An "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 28 hours or less per week or an average of 125 hours or less per month.
