Organization: YMCA of Northern Utah
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This position will provide direction and leadership in setting and attaining association goals in accordance with the strategic plan. As a member of CEO’s Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Operations ensures successful operations of the various regions across Northern Utah, including program development, staff supervision, community relations, budgeting, grant fidelity, and financial results.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS:

Provides leadership, guidance, and support to the regions by supervising directors and providing overall direction in association-wide operations to assure sound operations in the primary areas of Early Childhood Education, After-School Programing, Resident Camp, and Day Camp.
 Recruits, hires, supervises, and develops staff and volunteers through use of Leadership Competency Model resources.
Maintains active participation on committees/boards and represent the Y in the communities we serve. Partners with community leaders to ensure the YMCA is identifying, and meeting community needs effectively.
Creates a structure and procedures that will remove barriers and foster equity and inclusion.
Leads the processes for operational budgets, program quality and consistency, program pricing, customer service, and customer satisfaction.
 Monitors monthly financial reports to ensure that revenue targets are met, and expenses are controlled. Identifies and establishes new revenue streams.
Evaluates effectiveness and sustainability of programs. Guides directors in making challenging decisions regarding programs to start, change, continue or stop; and all the systemic changes to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the programs, improve customer service, satisfaction, and retention.
Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, and collaborations.
 Identifies areas for cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA strategic goals and works with staff groups to develop and implement consistent processes, procedures and programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
Assist in the implementation of the Annual Campaign in close harmony with staff and volunteers and in accordance with the standards of the Association. Effectively communicates the benefits and impact of the YMCA’s efforts through storytelling and data collection.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS:

 Bachelor’s degree in business management, human services, social services, or other relevant area required. Master’s degree preferred.
 Eight or more years of professional management experience in the YMCA or other nonprofit preferred.
 Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations including staff supervision and development, program development and implementation, facility and property management and financial practices.
 Experience with budgetary responsibilities of $800K or more with a proven record of accomplishment in fiscal and/or program
