Position Summary

Assist in planning and implementing educational and play-based child care to ensure health, safety, and enrichment of children birth through age five.

Essential Job functions

Assist in planning, implementing and supervising infant/toddler/preschooler stimulation and educational activities in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth.
Provide developmentally appropriate care, comfort, nurturing and guidance to infants/toddlers/preschoolers in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth.
Assist children with acquisition of age-appropriate social skills.
Supervise and implement appropriate feeding schedules and individual maintenance requirements.
Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility according with health and hygiene standards, including but not limited to the toileting area, toys, cots, sheets, diaper changing area and food service/preparation area.
Work with teaching team to create and maintain a cheerful, aesthetically pleasing child care environment that reflects the cultural diversity and interests of the children.
Share responsibilities for accurate record keeping, data collection, and anecdotal child reports in order to ensure coordinated departmental interventions.
Monitor emotional and physical health of children, report all cases of suspected child abuse and respond to emergencies as needed in order to protect children.
Maintain compliance to Child Care Licensing, Federal Food Program, NAEYC Accreditation and YWCA standards.
Assist Lead Teacher in preparation of materials of daily lesson plans, and alert director when supplies are running low or when toys or equipment are in need of repair.
Obtain and maintain adequate awareness and observance of appropriate developmental guidelines and techniques for behavior management in accordance with state licensing and NAEYC standards.

Demonstrate commitment to understanding and using Sanctuary Model principles, language, and tools in daily work.
Model YWCA community standards and encourage program participants and other staff to follow them.
Understand and follow all established organizational and program related policies, procedures and protocols.
Keep all records necessary to ensure that work is conducted in accordance with agency, contractual, and legal requirements. Records are expected to be complete, accurate, and timely.
Satisfactorily perform all duties outlined in this job description.
Maintain all certifications and licensing related to role, program licensing, and grant standards including but not limited to: CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers Permit, LCSW/CSW/SSW, etc.
Attend all required staff meetings, individual and/or group supervision, agency-wide staff and other trainings, as well as any other meetings and activities as requested.
Monitor campus security in collaboration with all staff to protect the safety and well-being of program participants, staff, and visitors.
