Organization: Utah Afterschool Network
Overview:
Under the direction of the Utah Afterschool Network (UAN) Executive Director and Director of Operations, the AmeriCorps Program Director will oversee youth STEM afterschool program activities staffed by AmeriCorps members. As a statewide initiative, the AmeriCorps Utah STEM Initiative currently provides STEM programming through Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County to youth primarily located in Utah, Iron, and Washington Counties. This position will help expand this initiative to the Salt Lake region and rural areas in northern Utah.
The AmeriCorps Program Director will oversee AmeriCorps members in afterschool programs who will offer
hands-on STEM activities and education to youth in K-12 grade. The STEM Director will spend approximately 25 hours per week in an office doing detailed HR and grant paperwork, approximately 10 hours per week doing staff
recruitment/development, and 5 hours per week doing community outreach.
The AmeriCorps Program Director will also participate in and support various UAN initiatives related to professional learning and development, statewide technical assistance efforts, policy development, marketing, and public
awareness.

Job Summary:
Oversees the AmeriCorps STEM program within afterschool and summer programs. Primary concern for grant management; program development and implementation; recruitment; professional development; supervision of AmeriCorps members; reporting; and budget management.

Education and Experience Requirements:
● Associate’s, bachelor’s, or graduate degree from an accredited college and/or 4 years experience
successfully managing a social service program.
● Experience managing a large federal grant (helpful but not required).
● Maintain a valid Utah Drivers License and motor vehicle insurance.
● Access to a vehicle for traveling to visit programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
● Understand out-of-school time best practices.
● Knowledge of STEM programs, practices, and resources.
● Passion for National Service
● Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Qualtrics, and Salesforce.
● Extremely detail oriented and ability to meet regular deadlines.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
● Demonstrate time management and prioritization skills.
● Ability to multitask and complete projects in a high performing work environment.
● Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with team members, AmeriCorps
Members, program staff, community groups, and other partnering agencies.
