Under the direction of the Utah Afterschool Network (UAN) Executive Director and Director of Operations, the AmeriCorps Program Director will oversee youth STEM afterschool program activities staffed by AmeriCorps members. As a statewide initiative, the AmeriCorps Utah STEM Initiative currently provides STEM programming through Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County to youth primarily located in Utah, Iron, and Washington Counties. This position will help expand this initiative to the Salt Lake region and rural areas in northern Utah.
The AmeriCorps Program Director will oversee AmeriCorps members in afterschool programs who will offer
hands-on STEM activities and education to youth in K-12 grade. The STEM Director will spend approximately 25 hours per week in an office doing detailed HR and grant paperwork, approximately 10 hours per week doing staff
recruitment/development, and 5 hours per week doing community outreach.
The AmeriCorps Program Director will also participate in and support various UAN initiatives related to professional learning and development, statewide technical assistance efforts, policy development, marketing, and public

Job Summary:
Oversees the AmeriCorps STEM program within afterschool and summer programs. Primary concern for grant management; program development and implementation; recruitment; professional development; supervision of AmeriCorps members; reporting; and budget management.

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)
Recruit, select and manage AmeriCorps members, ensuring productive and effective performance. Provide ongoing feedback and regular appraisal; identify and support professional development opportunities.
Create and maintain partnerships with partnering afterschool sites. Meet with principals, directors, and lead teachers regularly to communicate needs and accomplishments of the program.
Oversee proper record keeping and reporting, including all required AmeriCorps and Utah Afterschool Network paperwork.
Ensure timely and accurate grant reports.
Maintain excellent relationships with the AmeriCorps offices and Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County. Communicate successes and assist in resolving problems.
Oversee member sites to ensure compliance with grant parameters. Conduct evaluations of programs on a continual basis and ensure programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity. Provide training and member development opportunities to ensure the success and safety of the program.
Ensure program budget needs are met and ensure the program operates within budget parameters.
Establish program objectives and ensure program goals are obtained.
Ensure all available member slots are filled and that members receive sufficient support to maintain high enrollment.

Maintain close contact with the supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.
Increase visibility of the program via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, flyers and media releases.
