Organization: Dual Immersion Academy
Preschool Assistant Teacher
Pay: Salary dependent on experience and education
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week, occasionally will be asked to work events, attend parent conference or APTT nights, etc. with minimum of two weeks notice) with Summers off
A Lead Teacher runs the preschool classroom offered at Dual Immersion Academy under the supervision of the Early Childhood Education Director. As full-time faculty, they are responsible for implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for all of the children and families enrolled in their program. Additionally, they are responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the preschool assistant as they develop their skills and role at DIA. The Lead Teacher is required to attend ongoing training, PLC meetings, and is also required to maintain minimum state requirements for this position as outlined by USBE. The Lead Teacher is also required to host and plan parent conferences and a preschool APTT night for parents.
Qualifications
1. Completion or progress toward a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
2. Completion of Child Development Associate.
3. Experience working with children in an inclusion setting.
4. Experience working with culturally, linguistically, and developmentally diverse populations
5. Demonstrated competence in implementing developmentally appropriate practices in an early childhood education classroom
6. Must be able to pass a background check
Responsibilities
Classroom
1. Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate, inclusive preschool program that is consistent with NAEYC accreditation guidelines as well as DIA’s vision and mission.
2. Supervise and insure the safety and well being of the children at all times; remain alert to the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
3. Keep classroom, storage rooms, bathrooms, and yard clean, orderly, and inviting
4. Complete developmental assessments on each child at least twice, annually
5. Conduct individual conferences with parents of each child at least twice, annually
6. Write monthly classroom correspondence for Parent Newsletter
Staff
1. Coordinate activities with staff from DIA including Assessment Director and Preschool Assistant to provide a rigorous and appropriate curriculum.
2. Participate in weekly professional staff meetings and,or training.
3. Keep Early Childhood Education Director informed of program
4. Report any special needs or concerns to Early Childhood Education Director Director
5. Provide daily check out feedback to Preschool Assistant & devise a method of increasing assistant responsibilities over the course of the semester to include:
planning and implementing curriculum, including small group activities
leading whole group activities
