Job Summary:
Fathers and Families Coalition of Utah Prevention Educator
Fathers and Families Coalition of Utah is looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a passion for working with teens and adults, to join our programs. Currently, our programs operate at Horizonte Instruction & Training Center and Hunter Library and are offered weekly as a class for youth and adults on Zoom (on-site before COVID). The Prevention Educator will provide a safe, nurturing, and educational environment that encourages individuals to become productive community members. Young Parent Prevention, Jobs Work and Entrepreneur Educators will mentor individuals in gaining employability skills and finding employment.
Once hired in this position, you will first spend 2 - 3 weeks working through the existing curriculums and materials so that you are proficient and well-versed in all content. Training will also involve shadowing a current educator in after school or online sessions. After these weeks of training, you will begin facilitating classes on your own, with an educator shadowing you. ​Knowing how to recruit students is a MUST​.
Hours:
Part time, 15-25 hours / week. Currently, hours may vary as online trainings and classes are provided. As things begin to open back up due to Covid-19, there will be more hands-on.
Compensation​:
$12 - $15 per hour depending on experience
Qualifications:
1. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations (youth and adults) from different social and ethnic backgrounds.
2. High school graduate or equivalent.
3. Experience in working with youth and/or other related experience.
4. Ability to create and facilitate employment skill-based and job placement
project-based activities.
5. Ability to help create a safe and inclusive environment for youth and adults.
6. Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.
7. Effective conflict resolution skills.
8. Ability to interact with both youth and adults in a nonjudgmental
atmosphere.
Typical Duties:
1. Plan and implement activities according to program needs.
2. Participate in activities with youth and adults and assist the educator as
needed.
3. Prepare student employability curriculum materials, lesson plans, and
activities. Update the curriculum with the beginning of each new term
and create new assignment checklists as needed.
4. Conduct community outreach and recruitment with programs that can
support and provide resources for youth and adults in the journey to
finding employment or college placement.
5. Communicate and enforce program rules and code of conduct.
6. Focus on mentoring youth in finding employment and gaining skills.
7. Provide leadership to youth engaged in program activities.
8. Follow program procedures to safeguard health, safety, and well-being
of participants.
9. Attend staff meetings or training sessions as scheduled.
10.Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with personnel at
classroom locations.
11.Maintain attendance records as required by the program. 12.Report weekly to the Program Assistant Director and Program
Educator.
13.Other duties as assigned.
