Part-time Drop-In Child Care Center Assistant Teacher

Organization: YWCA UtahAssist lead teacher in planning and implementing therapeutically oriented childcare to ensure health, safety, and enrichment of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining and promoting a trauma-informed classroom of infants and young children and implementing age-appropriate activities, programs, and behavioral management for the drop-in childcare program.
Assist in assessing and managing the individual needs of children ages 6 weeks – 6 years by providing developmentally appropriate care, comfort, nurturing and guidance in order to enhance and encourage social/emotional development and physical growth.
Work with a team in maintaining the cleanliness, orderliness and safety of the classroom and facility by participating in health and hygiene standards of the room
Assist the custodial needs of the children by serving meals, changing diapers, assisting with toiletry, instructing the children in hygiene and helping the children maintain a socially appropriate level of self-care.
Obtain and maintain adequate awareness and observance of appropriate development guidelines and techniques for behavior management for a broad range of developmental stages in accordance with NAEYC and State Licensing guidelines.
Assist with accurate and punctual record keeping, data collection and communication to assist with departmental conversations and interventions.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
18 years of age. CDA preferred.
If no CDA upon hire, must be willing to obtain CDA.
Meet all State Child Care Licensing Requirements including Food Handler’s permit, CPR/First Aid, (the agency provides funding).
Ability to work assigned hours.
Ability to work sensitively and effectively with diverse populations.
Reports to: Drop-In Childcare Coordinator
Hours: 20--25 Hrs. /wk., M-F
Salary: $15 an hour
