Job Description
Rewarding opportunity for a fun, energetic, and loving activities specialist to mentor and support children exposed to family violence. Assist in the planning and implementation of the after school and evening teen programs as well as the YWCA’s summer camp. Share academic expertise with Children’s Services team to create additional opportunities for children to build and improve their academic skills. Responsibilities:

Assist the Children’s Activities Coordinator in the planning, implementation, and facilitation of daily activities and behavioral management for the children in the after school and summer camp programs.
Lead, envision and shape the academic success of children residing on the campus with the children's Services team.
Assist the evening teen program. Mentor teens while providing age-appropriate activities.
Teach and reinforce appropriate social skills. Provide feedback, discipline, mentoring and emotional support.
Assign, monitor, and reinforce individualized behavioral goals for each participant.
Attend the children's Advocacy and Intervention Services team meetings, regular staff meetings, and training sessions as requested.
Manage the afterschool and summer camp programs in the absence of the Children’s ActivitiesCoordinator.
Assist in the distribution and collection of enrollment materials and daily attendance.
Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the YWCA facility.
Keep current on electronic record system documenting activities and assure grant compliance necessary to ensure that work is conducted in accordance with agency, contractual, and legal requirements.
Articulate and promote high ethical and professional standards in all YWCA programs, activities and services and with all agency publics.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff, other key publics, and any other organizations and individuals important to the success of the YWCA's work.
Minimum Required Qualifications:

Commitment to empowering women and girls and eliminating racism.
Experience in working with children is required.
Bachelor’s degree or related experience is required.
Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.
Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to create effective working relationships with other YWCA programs as well as build strong bridges with community partners.
Ability to relate in a positive and nurturing way with children and adolescents who have experienced domestic violence
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
Must obtain CPR/First Aid certificates and a Food Handler’s permit.
Ability to work assigned hours on a regular basis.
A valid Utah driver’slicense and current automobile insurance are required.
Ability to relate positively to people of diverse ages, ethnicity, socio-economic levels, beliefs, and lifestyles.

Children’s Activities Coordinator

Hours:
Part-time/full time, (32 hours during the school year, 40 hours during summer,)

Afternoons and some weekday evening hours
