Organization: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake
TEEN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Planning, coordinating and implementing fun and engaging activities and programs for teens. This position exists to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, living a healthy lifestyle, and demonstrating good character and citizenship.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
• Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of teen development priority outcomes:
o Academic success (high school graduation)
o Healthy lifestyle
o Good character and citizenship
Program Development and Implementation
• On-site supervision of the Club members
• Maintains a positive outlook and attitude with children, and provide constructive feedback on their efforts and progress
• Plan and implement fun and engaging activities using Boys & Girls Club core program areas
• Adhere to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake policies and procedures
• Assist children in building conflict resolution skills and learning to accept responsibility for their actions
• Maintain positive discipline and safety procedures at all times
• Maintain respectful communication with members, parents, school personnel, and other staff
• Help maintain a clean facility--making sure teens clean up after activities. Never leave a mess after an activity!
• May supervise youth during special programs, outings, and/or events
Supervision
• Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings
• Maintain communication with Program Director and other staff members regarding concerns/issues
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems upon request.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must be able to drive 15 passenger vehicles and have a good driving record
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to pass Drug Screening
• Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Clubs can arrange for this)
• Obtain valid Food Handler’s permit as required (the Boys & Girls Clubs will arrange for this)
• Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet
• Be adaptable and flexible to change
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

SCHEDULE:
• Must be available for all shifts Monday through Friday (approximately 2:00-7:00PM)
• Year round permanent position
• No weekends
• School year schedule works well for students
• Extra hours available during the summer
