Salary: $14-16/hour
Schedule: Monday- Friday 23 hours/week in the school year, 30 hours/week in the summer
POSITION SUMMARY
The STEM Coordinator’s primary concern is the improvement of learning opportunities for members attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake. The STEM Coordinator is an instructional leader who works in close collaboration with the Club and Program Directors to provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) based programming through small group activities and use of BGCA curriculum. Their role is to support program instructional/enrichment goals by ensuring activities are structured, age-appropriate, and contribute to priority outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)
• Maintain and develop consistent and comprehensive curriculum in STEM education.
• Plan, promote and execute technology/STEM activities during afterschool and summer hours.
• Maintain and use Club technology resources on a daily basis.
• Participate in BGCA national programs and trainings (MyFuture, Career Launch, Digital Arts Festival, FastForWord, coding, etc.) as necessary.
• Responsible for proper record keeping and reporting.
• Develop STEM-related science themes/camps.
• Create engaging STEM-focused local programs with the ability to multi-task several projects.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Associate’s Degree in a STEM, IT or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training.
• Experience in STEM educational programming, experience with record keeping, surveys and budgeting STEM activities.
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must have at least one year of experience working with youth and some classroom management experience.
Other Requirements:
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Must be able to pass Drug Screening
• Be CPR and First Aid certified (the Boys & Girls Clubs can arrange for this)
• Be able to function for more than 2 hours on your feet
• Be adaptable and flexible to change
• Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
