Organization: Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County
The Summer AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will lead hands-on, informal STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education activities at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County. AmeriCorps is a national service opportunity, not just a regular job! Learn more about AmeriCorps at americorps.gov. This position comes with a bi-weekly living allowance of $385.71 (before taxes). An education award of $1,252.91 will be given to the AmeriCorps member upon successful completion of term of service.

This position requires–
A term of service from May 22–August 16, 2019
Morning or Afternoon Shift
25–30 hours each week

Responsibilities
(1) Plan and implement lessons in Club summer programs using STEM-related curricula, (2) attend one AmeriCorps training retreat on a Saturday each month, (3) administer student pre- and post-surveys, (4) recruit volunteers from local colleges/universities and STEM companies to introduce youth to STEM-related careers, (5) track and report data monthly (i.e. number of youth served, volunteer-related data, etc.), (6) assist with Club summer field trips as assigned.

Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be a United States citizen or permanent resident, and meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Individuals selected for these positions must pass a background check. Preference will be given to individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, and/or education.
