Lessons Learned From The Outdoors
Chaz Pounder, Utah Afterschool Network
Summertime is a great opportunity for folks to get out in the great outdoors and learn from nature. Unfortunately, time spent outdoors is becoming a rare commodity for young people and the costs of not connecting children to nature are significant. Consider the health consequences, as an example.
There is a movement afoot to reconnect children to nature and summer programs can fill an important gap. In this session, Chaz shares the impactful benefits of time spent in nature through research, actionable strategies, and activities, and personal examples of how program providers can help youth reconnect and gain a strong appreciation for time spent outdoors.
