Before joining UAN, Mason, a Utah native, spent five years working in afterschool and summer programming at the YMCA of Northern Utah in Salt Lake City and Ogden where he developed a strong passion for youth development. Mason values the opportunities afterschool programs provide to youth and families beyond the standard school day and enjoys watching young people grow and discover their passions.
Mason's journey into the youth development field began after spending four years as a school custodian at a school that hosted an afterschool program. Starting as a seasonal summer counselor, he quickly advanced to program, site coordinator, and ultimately assistant director where he began training the next generation of afterschool professionals.
Outside of work, Mason enjoys spending time with his wife and son, watching movies, playing video games, tinkering with his computer, and enjoying good food.
