Position Summary

Assisting lead teacher in planning and implementing nationally accredited two-year old preschool program to ensure health, safety, and enrichment of children.

Essential Job functions

a. Planning, implementing and supervising early preschool education activities in order to enhance their cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.
b. Provide developmentally-appropriate education and care, comfort, nurturing and guidance to early preschool children in order to enhance their emotional and physical growth as outlined by NAEYC and State Licensing guidelines.
c. Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of facility according with health and hygiene standards, including but not limited to the toileting area, toys, cots, sheets, diaper changing area and food service/preparation area.
d. Responsible for accurate record keeping, data collection, and anecdotal child reports in order to ensure coordinated departmental interventions.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a combined 5 or more years of education and experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university education or related field preferred
Or another closely related field plus 1-2 years’ experience in education.
Or Associates degree from an accredited college plus 3 or more years’ experience.
Or High school diploma plus 5-7 years of relevant demonstrated experience.
An understanding of an agreement with YWCA Utah’s mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism, empowerment of women and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice.
If no CDA upon hire, must be willing to obtain CDA or have experience working with ages 0-5. Child care experience preferred.
Meet all State Child Care Licensing Requirements including Food Handler’s permit, CPR/First Aid.
Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism.
Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required.
Proficiency with general office duties, computer systems and technology.
