Youth Education’s Office Assistant works across our Campus Camps, Pre-College at the U, and PATHS programs.

Our Campus Camps, and Pre-College at the U summer programs are built to inspire education, innovation, and imagination. We develop interests and passions through experiential education and extend the resources of the University of Utah to students seventeen and under. Additionally, our PATHS (Promoting Access to High Schoolers) program supports underrepresented and first-generation high school students from their first day of 9th grade to their first day of college.

This position is ideal for an undergraduate/graduate student. Part-time schedule in the Fall and Spring months, full-time schedule required in the Summer, May-August. Hours can be flexible to accommodate student needs.

While the position will remain open until filled, we intend to conduct interviews in early to mid-December. The selected candidate must be available to start in early January.

*This position may be eligible for a hybrid work option during the academic year, but must be in person during summer months.

The Office Assistant Will:
• Be responsible for all general office tasks such as:
o Assists parents and students in all areas of youth information and registration
o Return voice and e-mail messages promptly
o Manage multiple inboxes
o Effectively resolve customer concerns and correspond with students/parents as needed
o Communicate with Youth Education instructors and partners as needed
o Participate in team meetings
o Other duties as assigned

• During the summer months, additional responsibilities may include:
o Assist with classroom management
o Assist with facilitating activities, helping with field trips, managing supplies, coordinating transportation, etc.
o Work with Youth Education instructors and staff to ensure program quality
o Deliver extraordinary customer service to all program participants
o Show enthusiasm to encourage campers to participate in activities
o Other duties may be assigned



Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• One-year full-time customer service experience or equivalency, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required.
• Must be at least 18.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
• Demonstrates computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Suites)
• Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to research and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to handle sensitive issues in a professional manner.

Preferences
• Ability to work independently in order to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate ability to work on a team
• 21 years of age
• Bilingual
