Choices and Change is a violence prevention curriculum first developed in 1994 by Boulder area teachers, administrators, and domestic violence educators. We continuously review and revise the curriculum to reflect the changing population and needs of Boulder County. Our goals are to promote a more inclusive and peaceful school environment where all children have the right to be safe.
Prevention Dimensions (PD) is a set of Utah's Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities resource lessons which support the Utah State Office of Education (USOE) pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade health core. The program began in 1982 as a joint effort between the Utah State Division of Substance Abuse, Utah State Department of Health, Utah State Office of Education, and Utah State PTA, and has been revised several times since. The mission of PD is to give students a strong foundation of effective violence and substance abuse prevention skills.
This bulletin presents research on why youth join gangs and how a community can build gang prevention and intervention services. The author summarizes recent literature on gang formation and identifies promising and effective programs for gang prevention.
The Utah Suicide Prevention Coalition is a partnership of community members, suicide survivors, service providers, researchers, and others dedicated to saving lives and advancing suicide prevention efforts in Utah.
