Malia Kema

Data Specialist

Malia grew up moving around the United States with her family, from the mountainous landscapes of Utah and Colorado to the sandy beaches of Hawaii, and the wide-open plains of Texas and Kansas. Returning to Utah for college, Malia is currently on track to graduate with a double major in Data Science and Family Studies at Weber State University. Although the majors may seem drastically different, Malia's greatest desire is to build a future where data is a tool that can be harnessed to create positive social impacts.

During her college experience, Malia discovered her love for afterschool programs. Working with a variety of them, she found how fulfilling the line of work can be. Malia's love for afterschool initiatives goes beyond the routine; she sees them as spaces where youth can not only learn and grow academically but also develop crucial life skills and values.

When she isn't crunching numbers, Malia's adventurous spirit comes to life. She finds solace and joy in the great outdoors, engaging in activities like hiking, kayaking, surfing, longboarding, and embracing the cold winter months through snowboarding. When indoors, you will find her trying a new recipe, binge-watching the latest TV series, or spending time with family and friends.

Favorite Drink: Freshly Squeezed Ice-cold Lemonade.
